Think about this for a second, most of our conversations with kids after a match follow these lines, sometimes a little more detail on technique or a couple questions to reflect on. If your conversations are not in a similar form, you’re doing more detriment then good. They know they lost, no need to keep telling them. Build them up!!

TEACHABLE MOMENTS

Technique without mindset is like having a pen with no ink, you’ll never accomplish anything! We can teach a million moves, but without the winning mindset its all for nothing. Coach Kolat is one of the best technicians in the world, and he just explained it to his college wrestlers/prospects.

👊What should your mindset be when running an arm bar? Here's what Coach Kolat told campers. . .

Saw this bench while on vacation and it spoke to me a bit. Pick the harder partner and force yourself to get better! Don’t just get by at practice, you’ll never just get by at a tournament. We have a ton of talent in out room, now it’s time to start pushing each other. Accept the challenge and grow! Get knocked down and stand back up! Keep coming back for more! Before you know it, you’re at the top of the podium......and the food chain!!

Top linemen double as top wrestlers

We have been saying it all along. The two compliment each other very well. Those who want to be successful will find their way onto the mats.

High school and college coaches are in near unanimous agreement that athletes should not specialize in just one sport. High school athletes are encouraged to run track in the offseason to improve speed, while playing baseball or softball can improve reflexes. While many sports are complementary, man...

How much are you putting in to reach your goals? Write down the goals you have and start tracking everything you’re doing to reach them. JOURNAL!! Ask yourself, is it really a goal if you’re not willing to work towards achieving it? The time is now! #beyourbestyou #topofthefoodchain

What are your goals and what are you doing to achieve them? It’s never to early or to late to work towards them. You don’t need a fancy gym to get stronger, or a mat room to drill position! Those who want it bad enough will find a way to get it done!

TOP OF THE FOOD CHAIN!!

The Lakeland Predators Wrestling Club was founded in 1978 in an effort to give as many local grade school aged kids as possible the opportunity to wrestle. Based at Antioch Community High School, we are convenient to families in the Chain of Lakes region in northern Illinois and southeastern Wisconsin. We strive to be flexible, low maintenance and affordable. With a focus on sportsmanship- we teach kids to wrestle, work hard, and have fun while providing competitive opportunities for both inexperienced and experienced wrestlers. We are members of the Illinois Kids Wrestling Federation and our club members are carded by USA Wrestling.
